Once you have made up the dry mix you are ready to get cheffing!!
I make the Clan's breakfast pots with a herbal tea, click the button at the bottom to skip to the herby page!!
My go to base tea is fresh Ginger, fresh turmeric, Oregano and Rosemary, a couple of sprigs and slices of each, add boiling water and steep for 15 minutes!!
For the Clan I do 4 wee pots of breakfast mix, so 8 hens and Mr Eddie! I put two tablespoons of the dry mix in each cup. Eddie has the red cup, he likes the red cup, he knows it is his and he has his high up away from the beady beaks of the Gurls, but he does allow Oefie or Cion to share 'his' pot! Occasionally!!!
Once the herbal tea has steeped pour over enough to cover the dry mix. Stir and stand. The Feast is very absorbent. Check consistency after a minute, add more tea if required. I go for a firmly thick mix that can easily be stirred, not sloppy but not solid!! If it is too sloppy just add some more dry mix, stir and stand!!
Most days the pots are naked, but on the weekend I chop some blueberries or grapes, some mint, some fresh peas to pop on top! I also sprinkle some avian probiotics once the mash has cooled and mix in. I use Bioplus.
Every day the pots are naked I hear the audible sigh of disappointment!! However, I strongly believe in the saying 'less is best' when it comes to treats!! The Clan has good clean nutrition and whilst they do enjoy fruity and vegetably treats these are limited to about 10% of the their diet!
